More Key Details
The apple cider vinegar reacts with the plant milk to create a vegan “buttermilk.” This simple step activates the baking soda and helps the cake rise beautifully, resulting in a soft, fluffy crumb with a tender texture. When combining the wet and dry ingredients, mix only until everything is just incorporated.
Make sure the cake is completely cooled before adding any frosting. Even slight warmth can cause the cream to melt and slide, affecting both texture and structure. Chilling the cake between layering steps helps the frosting firm up and keeps the layers neat and defined. For the best flavor and texture, allow the cake to rest in the refrigerator for at least 6 hours before serving. This resting time allows the chocolate and hazelnut flavors to deepen and meld together beautifully.
